Opposition Leader (OL) in Senate Sherry Rehman Tuesday urged the government to form Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on the Pandora Papers financial scandal.
According to 24News HD TV Channel, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) backed OL in Senate said she had a doubt that the government was serious to probe into the scandal against the ministers.
Sherry said if the JIT could be formed on the opposition leaders on the allegation of their involvement in some financial scandals, then why not on this Pandora Papers financial scandal?
Criticizing the dual face of the government, the OL said the cases of the opposition were referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) immediately but now a committee has been formed on the scandal.
Showing her concerns over the forming a committee on the Pandora Papers, she said it seemed that the government was trying to suppress it like the sugar scandal through a commission.
Rejecting the government’s investigating measures, the PPP leader said that it would be the government's own committee so it would not have any credibility.
Sherry asked about the government authorities’ money trail and details of the offshore companies.
