The electronic media watchdog, Pemra has banned the rebroadcasting of drama serials ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ for airing negative content undermining social and religious values.

It is pertinent to note that the two TV shows had successfully aired on ARY Digital and Hum TV.

However, the authority has now deemed that any repeat telecast of the shows will not be allowed on their respective parent channel.

According to the regulatory body, the decision was taken after it received complaints from viewers through Pakistan Citizens Portal and social media accounts that the dramas were propagating content that was against the social and religious values of the society.

The PEMRA has directed all TV channels, media houses and production houses to review the content of dramas.
