People are disappointed in Bollywood celebrities for their lack of concern or support for their Pakistani followers at a time when the nation is experiencing severe floods and the whole world is paying attention, Bollywood’s big stars are quite on the matter.

In Pakistan, relief efforts are in progress after unprecedented floods that claimed at least 1,265 lives were taken by heavy rains and glaciers melting.

Haroon Rashid, a BBC Asian Network correspondent, has publicly voiced his displeasure with Bollywood's A-listers on twitter

Rashid stated on Twitter that he never imagined humanity would have boundaries during natural disasters.

He tweeted: “I genuinely thought humanity knows no borders but it's telling that hardly any Bollywood stars have posted about the devastating floods in Pakistan - raise awareness, share links, just show sympathy, they know how popular they are and how much that acknowledgement would mean.”

Therefore, in response Mehwish Hayat, one of the most well-known performers in Pakistan, replied to the tweet and has now urged Bollywood stars to demonstrate their willingness to rise above politics and care about their fans in Pakistan.

She said: “The silence from the Bollywood fraternity is deafening. ‘Suffering knows no nationality, race or religion’ — no better time for them to show us that they can rise above nationalist politics and care about their fans in Pakistan. We are hurting and a kind word or two would not go amiss.”

Journalist Mahwash ijaz also replied and said: Mahwash Ajaz, a Pakistani journalist, said, “Esp since Pakistanis always speak and talk about Bwood with so much love.”

However, Ishaan Khatter and Aly Goni, two Bollywood actors, posted information about the flooding on their now-expired Instagram stories. But regrettably, the major personalities in the sector said nothing about it.

Though Bella Hadid, an American supermodel, and Engin Altan Duzyatan, a Turkish actor, both shared their thoughts and support for flood situation in Pakistan.
