Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has resigned from her post and is likely
to be given new responsibilities in the federation, reported 24News HD TV channel Friday.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has accepted her resignation as special assistant on information and broadcasting.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to give an important assignment to Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, who is presently serving as Special Assistant to Punjab CM (SACM) on Information and Culture.

Quoting sources, the channel reported that the prime minister had decided to appoint Firdous as his special assistant on population welfare while Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) Fayyazul Hassan Chohan as Provincial Minister for Information.

Chohan has already served as Punjab Minister for Information.

Earlier on Friday, 24News had broken the news that the Punjab government had decided to take resignations from Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Information and Culture Firdous Ashiq Awan and Awn Chaudhry.

It is pertinent to remind here that Firdous Ashiq Awan had decided to call it a day on July 19, 2021 only to take back her decision on the same day when Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected her resignation and asked her to go ahead with her job.

The sources had divulged to 24News then that the special assistant to Punjab CM had decided to resign as she wanted to take part in the Sialkot by-election in PP-38.

Special Assistant to Punjab CM (SACM) Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s lies had been exposed as he failed to give proof of his illness at UK’s home department, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference at DGPR, she said Nawaz’s stay in the UK was becoming increasingly difficult as his passport had also expired. “Former prime minister will have to return to Pakistan so that he could be held accountable for his ‘corruption',” she asserted.

Calling PML-N supremo a man who had deliberately imposed exile on him, she urged him to come back to the country to prove he was a true leader. “Those who have a pain in their hearts for the masses live amongst them rather than living a luxurious life abroad with kids,” Firdous commented.

Contrary to that, she added, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s narrative had been vindicated.
