The Foreign Office has made it clear that there was no change to Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir dispute, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Responding to a number of questions from the media following Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks on the Kashmir issue, Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said there was no change in Pakistan’s principled position on the Kashmir dispute that remained anchored in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The FO spokesman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his address on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day at Kotli on Friday, had reiterated Pakistan’s long-held position and support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The spokesperson added that the prime minister repeatedly spoke about the UNSC resolutions on Kashmir and underscored the need for implementation of those resolutions.

He said Pakistan remained firmly committed to the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through a free and impartial plebiscite under the UN auspices as enshrined in the relevant UNSC resolutions.

Speaking in Kotli on Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that when the Kashmiris will get the right to self-determination, Pakistan will offer Kashmiris the choice to either accede to Pakistan or remain independent.

Imran Khan said the United Nations has miserably failed to honour its commitment made to the people of Kashmiris. Imran Khan maintained that he will do his best to raise his voice for Kashmir freedom on every forum. Imran Khan said that he urged former US President Donald Trump thrice to mediate on the Kashmir matter.

He said that the whole Muslim world is standing united for the support of the Kashmir struggle.
