The last rites of legend Lata Mangeshkar were performed at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park with full state honor, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined family, friends, and fans of the legendary singer to bid her farewell.

Many celebrities including Vidya Balan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sachin Tendulkar also showed up at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.

The last rites were performed at 6.30 pm Indian time. Her body was wrapped in Indian tricolors.

Earlier in the day, Lata Mangeshkar passed away at 92 after suffering a multi-organ failure.  She was in the intensive care unit (ICU) and Dr Pratit Samdani was treating her at Breach Candy Hospital.

She was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia and tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier in January.  She was on the ventilator for weeks but on January 28, she was taken off the ventilator as she showed signs of improvement. She passed away after complications and age-related issues.
