Pakistan People's Party leader Nisar Khoro has taken oath as a senator, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered an oath to Nisar Khoro who emerged victorious on a Senate seat from Sindh that fell vacant after the disqualification of Faisal Vawda.

Leader of Opposition Dr Shehzad Wasim called for offering fateha for former president Pervez Musharraf while the government benches opposed stood up on their seats

The opposition leader said he felt sad that a human being passed away and prayers for the departed soul are not allowed. He insisted the fateha must be offered and said the deceased. 

Senator Mushtaq excused himself from praying for the ex-president. However, he prayed for the victims of earthquakes in Turkey, Syria and other states. Shehzad Wasim questioned what was wrong with praying for the ex-president.

Ex-chief of army staff Pervez Musharraf yesterday died in Dubai where he was under treatment. He had been suffering from an incurable disease for a long period of time.

Pervez Musharraf became the chief of army staff on October 7, 1998. On October 12, 1999, then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif removed him from his position and appoint Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Ziauddin Butt as the army chief.

But, the top leadership of the army rejected the dismissal of Pervez Musharraf as the army chief. They deposed Nawaz Sharif and seized power under martial law. Pervez Musharraf became the chief executive of the country.
