Heavy rains in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi have made weather nippy, besides bringing the levels of air pollution down in Punjab. The chilly weather has also brought frigid conditions in the upper areas across the country which have donned a sheet of white attracting tourists to rejoice themselves in the silver flurries and snow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Lahore’s temperature has plummeted with intermittent rain today. Yesterday, the city received heavy rain all day long which lowered its air pollution level. The Punjab capital which was on top of the most polluted city of the world index, its AQI level has dropped to 161 improving its air quality ranking which plunges to No. 6 now.

According to the metrological report, the city will receive more rainfall in the next 24 hours. The minimum temperature will remain 11C and maximum 15C. The wind will blow at a speed of 8km/h whereas the humidity level will remain 96%.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi will also receive sporadic rain today. The weather of the federal capital will remain partially cloudy and there are chances of shower too.

The downpour which lashed Karachi yesterday made weather cold. According to the Met office report, there are chances of more rain in the Sindh capital.

Different areas in Azad Kashmir including Mirpur have also been heavily soaked with a wet spell continued for the third consecutive day today. As the weather is getting extremely nippy, the valley is facing gas loadshedding which is adding to the woes of valley people. The rural areas have been without electricity since last night.

While the plain areas of the country have been pounded with sleet, the upper areas are receiving heavy snowfall restricting daily activities of the people to a great extent.

It has been the third day of snowfall in Neelum valley. The Grace valley received more than 2 feet snowfall which has shut the main thoroughfare for all kind of traffic. Many link roads in the Neelum valley have also been closed owing to snowy conditions. The snow has also caused disruption in the power and telecommunication systems across the valley.

In Rawlakot areas of Banjoosa, Toli Pir, Ali Sojal, Sangola and Datot, snow has been falling for the last three days. Whereas, rain has inundated the low lying areas of Rawalkot. Rain and snow have made weather frigid. The upper areas have been cut off from city bringing the daily activities of people to a halt.

The footage, which 24News has managed to obtain, shows that some men are carrying the body of Ramesh Lal from Panj Hatti to Dabar Masan area of the city through water, which is still accumulated not only in low-lying areas but also on roads.
