The inside story why Darren Sammy was finally removed as Peshawar Zalmi captain is out now.

There are reports that some teammates were unhappy with Sammy because he was paying more attention to his personal publicity than the game, especially he was ignoring practice sessions before every game.

Sammy, a Saint Lucian cricketer who played international cricket for the West Indies, is also an honorary Pakistani citizen. He is a two time T20 World Cup winning captain.

According to the sources, Sammy was removed on his teammates’ demand after he performed poorly in the fifth edition of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). The sources said that some teammates were not happy with Sammy’s attitude even. They pointed finger at Sammy’s performance and his failure to lead the team to victory and deliver as a captain in times of need. They said that Sammy was not fit anymore to lead the playing eleven. They said that Sammy spends more time on things in order to get people’s attention instead of focusing on the game.

Earlier on March 2, Sammy’s tweet reflected the disappointment he was feeling inside when he was told to take rest instead of being part of the playing eleven.

However, Sammy came out immediately and denied reports that his relations with the Peshawar Zalmi management or the team have gone sour.

On March 5, the news came out that Daren Sammy will no longer captain Peshawar Zalmi and he will instead take over as head coach.

In a major mid-season reshuffle, the Peshawar Zalmi announced Wahab Riaz as full-time captain and upgraded Mohammad Akram, the head coach, to the position of director of cricket. He will also continue serving as the franchise's bowling coach.
