The Imam at a local mosque (prayer leader) in Arifwala – a tehsil in Pakpattan district of Punjab – committed suicide over the repeated argument and fighting in the family, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The incident happened at a village Juman Shah located near Arifwala town. In this connection, police say Maulvi Abdul Manan reached the hujra attached to the mosque after returning from his home, where he used a rope to hang himself.

Manan was a resident of the Kalyana area of Pakpattan and used to teach the Holy Quran to children at the mosque.

Later, the officials from Ahmed Yar Police Station shifted the body to a local hospital for further action and started investigating the matter.
