Prince Charles thanks President Alvi for sweet gift

Britain’s Prince Charles has thanked President Arif Alvi for the gift of Pakistani mangoes.

In a letter to President Alvi, Prince Charles wrote, “I was pleasantly surprised at receiving the gift of Pakistani mangos. We are thankful for this gift. Pakistani mangoes are extremely delicious. My wife and I are thankful for this wonderful gift.” 

President Alvi had sent the gift of mangoes to several foreign heads as part of his mango diplomacy. In a bid to promote trade, he sent Pakistani mangoes as a gift to heads of 17 countries.

 Aviation Division sent a letter to Civil Aviation director-general with instructions to take appropriate steps to send the gift of special Pakistani mangoes to heads of state of 17 friendly countries.

 “The gift of special mangoes will be sent to the leaders of friendly countries including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Oman, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Singapore, Spain, UK, and Italy,” sources said.

Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Emirates Airlines were directed to provide for disbursement of mangoes in July and August. The letter also called for the PIA’s schedule for July and August.

A total of 4,810 kg of mangoes were delivered to presidents of 17 countries. The letter also directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to pay special cargo and other services for delivery of mangoes.
