A Tableeghi Jamaat member was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Narowal on Tuesday after being tested positive for the coronavirus.

The administration sealed the mosque at Gunj Hussainabad where he was staying along with other colleagues, 24NewsHD reported.

Earlier, the victim, who is from Vietnam, and four other foreigners were placed in quarantine at the mosque.

The officials are waiting for the test results of the remaining Tableeghi Jamaat members.

Similarly, people in Naushahro Feroze, Sindh, are perturbed by the reports that four foreigners associated with the Tableeghi Jamaat have been tested positive in the city.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Punjab jumped to 2004 on Tuesday with the confirmation of infection in another 86 people.

According to the figures released by the Punjab Primary Healthcare Department, 404 people associated with the Tableeghi Jamaat’s main centre at Raiwind have so far been diagnosed with the virus.

In an earlier report, AFP had reported that the authorities were searching for tens of thousands of worshippers who attended a gathering at the Raiwind centre.

Authorities want to test or quarantine those who congregated at the Tableeghi Jamaat from March 10 to March 12 amid fears they are now spreading coronavirus across Pakistan and overseas.

It is estimated that around 100,000 people had participated in the gathering. “Authorities in all districts (of the country) are trying to find those who have attended the event," an official had told AFP.

According to organisers, a number of foreign nationals also attended this year's gathering from countries including China, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Afghanistan.

On March 23, Gaza's health ministry confirmed its first two cases of coronavirus were Palestinians who had attended the gathering.
