There is no let-up in fatalities among people belonging to the medical fraternity due to Covid-19 as one more doctor has fallen prey to the coronavirus pandemic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), taking the number of doctors dying from the virus in the province to 69, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Dr Ihsanul Haq, Deputy Director Medical Services Pathology, Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad who had contracted the virus, finally lost the battle against the pandemic at 12:15 AM on Friday night, reads the statement issued by Provincial Doctors’ Association, Peshawar.

Dr Haq had been admitted to the Corona Ward of Ayub Medical Complex for the last three days.

Funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered at his native village tomorrow on Sunday.

Provincial Doctors’ Association, in a statement, regrets that sadly the family members of medical and para-medical staff in the province who succumbed to the virus are still deprived of compensation under the ‘Shuhada Package’ announced in April last year.

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), so far 4, 524 people in KP have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

Of 17 people who have died during the last 24 hours, eight belong to Peshawar.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Dr.Ihsanul Haq. In a condolence message, the chief minister extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

He lauded the services of the doctors and health workers who were working on the frontline to save the lives of other patients during the pandemic.

He said the government appreciated their invaluable services and sacrifices in the Covid-19 pandemic.
