Protesting employees of Pakistan Steels Mills on Sunday called off their sit-in outside PSM CEO’s house on the appeal of the PPP leadership, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said the matter of PSM employees’ termination has been included in the agenda of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).

“The PPP has also approved a resolution from Sindh Assembly in favour of Steel Mills employees,” Nasir Hussain said. He asked the employees to continue their struggle as the Sindh government and the PPP are with them.

The minister is also the head of the three-member Sindh government committee formed on the issue of the Steel Mills. He arrived at the site of the employees' sit-in and attended the funeral prayers of a worker named Sher Muhammad, who died of a heart attack early on Sunday morning.

The minister said that the PPP stands with these employees and feel sorry that another worker has died in this struggle. He told the protesters, “The Sindh government has written letter to the federal government twice. We will raise your voice at every forum just not rely on the U-turn government.”

It is relevant to note that the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that he will order the closure of the (PSM) as well as the removal of its employees because the PSM practically does not exist.

The CJP's remarks came during a hearing at the Supreme Court related to the promotion of PSM employees last week.

The CJP remarked PSM management is responsible for the plight of Pakistan's largest industrial complex. He further remarked, “If the mills are non-functional then there is no reason for the management to stay employed there.”
