Al-Khidmat foundation Tuesday initiated support activities for earthquake affected Turkey and Syria and will be sending food and shelter supplies along with medical teams, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

An emergency meeting of Al-Khidmat foundation central board of management was called after the dreadful earthquake in Turkey and Syria and a strategy for support and aid activities was derived.

President of Al-Khidmat foundation Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rahman said that they have already started the distribution of food, tents, mattresses and blankets immediately after the tremor in collaboration with the local partners in Turkey and Syria. He also said that initially, a seven member medical team including two orthopedic surgeons, a general surgeon, two anesthetic doctors, an operation theatre technician and a nurse will be sent to provide medical aid. The medical team will also carry supplies with them and continue medical operations for two to three weeks in the affected areas.

Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman said that Turkey and Syria are our Muslim brothers. Whenever there was an emergency in Pakistan, the brothers and sisters from Turkey came out and generously helped us, now it is our retrospective duty to support them in this dire time of need, he urged. Al-Khidmat is constantly in contact with Turkish Embassy of Pakistan, the Turkish charity organization TIKA and the Turkish Red Crescent and will stand with them to support and provide aid to the affected victims as a goodwill gesture and more importantly for humanity, said Al-Khidmat President Rehman.
