Authorities announce compensation package for train accident victims

The federal authorities have announced Rs1.5 million for each passenger families’ who lost their lives in the unfortunate train accident in Ghotki, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

It has also been announced to provide Rs50,000 to Rs0.5 million for injured passengers in train accidents.

Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar ordered an emergency in the hospitals of Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. A control room has been set up in Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Office and information desks have also been established at tehsil headquarters.

Separately, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Spokesman said that all rescue agencies are engaged in rescue operations and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals.

The NDMA Spokesperson said that Pakistan Army personnel, rangers, district administration, Rescue 1122 and Sindh Police are engaged in rescue operations.

“The rescue operation of passengers trapped in bogies with the help of necessary machinery and equipment is nearing completion while work is underway to remove debris from the track by relief train and crane,” the Spokesperson said.
