The fire that had erupted at a forest in Murree and later spread over 17 miles of land even reaching as far as the forests of Galyat in nearby Abbottabad were finally extinguished on Tuesday after the hectic efforts of several hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

However, the flames were not doused before they reduced hundreds of trees and plants into ashes.

As soon as the fire was put out, the staffers of Forest Department and the personnel of Rescue 1122 started the cooling process.

Police have said it has taken two people into custody in connection with the fire.

Similar reports are coming in from a popular hill resort of Swat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) where fire has broken out on a mountain’s top.

It is worth-mentioning here that this year there have been incidents of fire in several mountainous areas of the country.

Last month there was an inferno in Sheerani forest of Balochistan. Later, fire had erupted in the forests over the Margalla Hills of Islamabad.
