The Railways Headquarters has rejected a summary seeking 15% increase in rail fare after a hike in diesel prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, a summary was moved on Tuesday to the Railways HQ seeking 15% increase in the price of railway ticket. But Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq rejected the proposal saying that the ministry would not put the burden of soaring fuel prices on people.

He said the railways itself would bear the financial burden. He hoped that the PR department would become self-sufficient in providing cheap commuting facilities to public.
