Jamiat Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and other religious parties have announced holding Haya March to counter Aurat March.

“We will hold peaceful Haya March in front of Press Club to counter Aurat March,” the Ulema told the media after the government gave go-ahead to the organisers to hold rallies to mark International Women’s Day.

Mufti Abdullah said government’s permission was a deplorable act. Such activities should be discouraged by the government of the Islamic republic, he said stressing that this was against the constitution.

Pir Azizur Rehman said the Ulema have no objection to peaceful protests, they have reservations about vulgarity.

He continued: “Islam guarantees all rights.  A few women are trying to malign the day.

“The government should publicised the source of funding of these groups that have been projecting western agenda. These bodies should be banned.”
