APS survivor Ahmad Nawaz elected Oxford Union’s President

The human rights activist and the survivor of the Army Public School (APS) attack in Peshawar, Ahmad Nawaz has been elected as the President of the Oxford Union (debating society), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Ahmad Nawaz, who was admitted to the Oxford University in 2020, thanked God for being elected as President of the Oxford Union. He also expressed his gratitude to his supporters and parents for their help and encouragement.

Thanking his team, Nawaz said “The team has worked so exceptionally hard to make this truly historical moment happen!” 

He also said “Today is the most monumental & history making moment of my life!”

Nawaz said: “I am so extremely proud to announce that I have been Elected President of the @OxfordUnion”. He added “One of world’s biggest & historical platforms!”

He concluded: “I’m eternally grateful to everyone who supported me in this journey”.

It is pertinent to note that at the time of the APS tragedy in 2014, Ahmad Nawaz was 14 years old.
