Under the Digital Transformation Strategy, the Technical and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has launched an online training programme, Hunarmand Ustad, for its teachers.

According to a handout, the authority launched the project in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). Chairperson Ali Salman pointed out that with the introduction of the ‘Hunarmand Ustad’ programme Tevta takes a significant leap towards the implementation of digital transformation strategy as envisaged under its New Vision.

Under the ‘Hunarmand Ustad’ programme 650 teachers drawn from 284 Tevta institutions will undergo online training and these teachers will in turn provide CBTA training to students of the Hunarmand Nojwan project which envisages training 1,00,000 students in 56 demand driven courses, he said.

Ali said that this programme was one of several steps in hand towards digitalization of Tevta to bring it in conformity with the demands of changing time. He said that the training is part of a programme aimed at promoting technical education and vocational training in Pakistan with the help of the European Union, German and Norwegian governments.

The chairperson said that implementation of new vision without capacity building of teachers and adopting new techniques and methodologies in vogue wasn’t possible. That’s why different steps and measures had been initiated for teachers training, capacity building and wellbeing which also includes giving them promotions, which were pending since many a years, by removing the hurdles involved.

Ali said that teachers were the asset that’s why besides taking steps for their welfare, their capacity building and value addition through in-service courses and trainings was also being ensured.

Their exposure to latest techniques and best practices would go a long way towards raising the standard of education and training being imparted to the Tevta students, he continued.

Ali Salman thanked NAVTTC and others concerned for extending support and cooperation in making online training of teachers in CBTA possible.
