Due to the severe Covid-19 third wave in the country, it is decided to shift all 20 remaining Pakistan Super League(PSL) matches to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

This decision was taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other stack holders especially the six franchisee-owners in a virtual meeting held on Friday.

After the decision, the PCB had written a letter to the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to hold the Pakistan Super League matches at their country grounds.

In the letter, the PCB had requested the ECB to confirm the availability of the cricket stadium or other venues for holding cricket matches as well as the hotels in the Emirates.

During the virtual meeting, the PCB and the franchisee-owners considered two options for holding the remaining cricket matches of HBL PSL-6—first at Dubai and second at UAE.

And most of them were in favour of the venue of UAE so now the PCB will liaise with the ECB during this Eid holiday period in relation to finalizing playing and training facilities, hotel bookings, ground transportation and visitors’ visas.

As the holiday period has already started in both countries and the Pakistan men’s national cricket team has to depart for the United Kingdom on 23 June, the PCB will use this time to work with the ECB to check if the event can be successfully delivered within the available time.

According to the PCB, it will carry out a detailed financial and risk assessment as well as cost analysis before reporting back to the franchises, who will then review before a decision on the event venue is confirmed.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “We had an interactive and productive meeting in which we considered a number of factors. While the UAE has emerged as a preferred venue, a number of challenges remain, which will be worked through over the coming days. We remain committed to doing everything possible to complete the HBL PSL 6.”
