Active coronavirus cases in Pakistan drop to 6,542

Country records only three deaths, 394 new infections

Thanks to an effective and sustained containment of the coronavirus, the number of active cases in Pakistan reduced to 6,542 during the past 24 hours, shows the latest released by National Command and Operation Centre on Monday morning.

Out of these active cases, only 1,050 patients are currently hospitalised with 87 of them on ventilators.  

Meanwhile, another 188 people recovered from the infection during the past 24 hours (Sunday) after which the total number of those overcoming the infection has now increased to 286,016.

The same period, however, also witnessed the deaths three more coronavirus patients – one each in Balochistan, Sindh and Islamabad. It means the death toll in the country has reached 6,345.

It means the number of closed coronavirus cases [total number of recoveries + deaths] in the country has reached 292,261.  

As far as the new cases are concerned, the deadly virus was found in 394 more people in different parts of the country. The latest addition raised the overall number of cases to 298,903.

The regional distribution of these cases show that Sindh continues to be the most-affected province with 130,671 infections followed by 97,226 in Punjab, 36,625 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,750 in Islamabad and 13,292 in Balochistan.

On the other hand, the number of tests conducted since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country are also increasing as 20,980 people were tested during the past 24 hours.
