Dengue cases have seen a spike in Karachi, taking the tally to 354 in a single month, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.

According to the official data provided by Sindh Health Department, a total of 354 dengue cases have been reported this month in Karachi due to the stagnant water of downpours and floods.

Dengue virus has spread its claws in the city of Quaid and a large number of residents of Karachi are suffering from dengue virus.

An overwhelming number of dengue patients were brought to the hospitals this month and hospitals are running out of space.

The health experts, however, have cautioned that the dengue virus could take a shape of an epidemic if measures like insecticides and spraying are not taken.

“Stagnant rainwater is an ideal breeding ground for the growth of the dengue larvae,” told a medical officer.
