A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane has rescued Pakistanis stranded in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Wednesday.

PIA flight PK9814 carrying over 130 passengers returned to Pakistan early Wednesday and landed at Islamabad. The Pakistani Ambassador and embassy staff in Baghdad helped facilitate the Pakistanis to get back home.

At Islamabad International Airport, the passengers and PIA crew underwent medical check-up and screening. All of them were shifted to quarantine centres in hotels.

A passenger was having temperature so he was shifted to Islamabad’s PIMS hospital.

The rest of the passengers and crew will undergo blood screening and if found negative will be allowed to go to their homes.

Earlier PIA pilots refused to bring the Pakistanis back after some of their colleagues developed coronavirus symptoms during a flight from London to Karachi.

They protested a lack of equipment and safety kits for them for flights.
