The police in Haripur have so far failed to arrest the murderers of a newly-wed girl who was killed allegedly by her husband for not returning the Haq Mehar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The girl’s husband, Shahid, and his family members who nominated in her murder have disappeared from the scene after locking their home.

The newly-wed girl, Imrana, from the Sadar Goliyamira Police Station area, was living with her father after she developed differences with her husband soon after their marriage.

According to the girl’s father, her daughter’s husband did not treat her well, tortured her and kept demanding the return of the amount of Haq Mehar (An obligation in the form of money or possessions paid by the groom to the bride at the time of Islamic marriage).

Shahid took Imrana back to his home, but since then she hadn’t contacted her parents. Later, her body was recovered, said the father.

He said that her daughter’s in-laws have disappeared after locking their house.

Police have so far failed to arrest Shahid.
