Sindh govt ends lockdown, stays ban on indoor dinning

The Sindh government on Sunday ended a week-long lockdown in the province, reported 24News HD TV channel.

According to the report, the Sindh government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had decided not to extend the lockdown in the province following the hardship of the labour classes.

The Home Department of Sindh had also issued a notification of ending the lockdown in the province but some restrictions would remain to continue to curb the coronavirus epidemic.

Sindh government continued restrictions on indoor dining in restaurants and decided to allow outdoor dining until 10 pm sharp.

According to the new orders of the Sindh government, takeaway and home delivery services could be remained open 24 hours a week.

The Sindh government has decided to impose a complete lockdown from July 31, 2021, and it will close government offices from next week till August 8 following an astounding uptick in Covid-19 cases.

The decision of locking down the province was taken in a Sindh Task Force meeting presided over by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday, July 28, 2021. The meeting was also attended by members of the Sindh Covid Task Force, opposition members of the Sindh Assembly and representatives of traders. 

It was decided in the meeting that all government offices will be closed from July 31 till Aug 8. And the salaries of the government workers who are not vaccinated will not be released. Citizens are strictly advised to stay home and if they come out on the roads, they must carry their vaccination cards with them.

It was also decided to keep the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) of all big hospitals closed. The other curbs included closure of inter-city transport and markets from tomorrow. 

The meeting allowed the export industry to remain open. Besides this, pharmacies, grocery, bakery and dairy shops will also remain open.
