Courts of Kandkot and Bahawalpur Tuesday issued rare verdicts, ordering ex-SHO, two cops and a thief to do community service.

Kandkot District and Sessions Judge Jamshed Awan sentenced a former station house officer and two policemen to clean mosques in their area for 11 months after they were found guilty of detaining 11 people illegally.

Announcing the verdict on the habeas-corpus plea, the judge also ordered each of them will have to plant 100 trees at the Police Lines.

Separately, special judicial magistrate of Bahawalpur sentenced a man to plant 100 saplings and watering until they become trees.  The court also imposed Rs1,100 fine and directed the District Forest Officer to conduct monitoring.
