The Federal Finance Ministry has prepared a summary comprising nominees for the chief of House Building Finance Company (HBFC),  it is learnt reliably.

Sources said the ministry recommended three names for the post – Imran Ahad, Irtaza Kazmi and Sanwal Qureshi – for a period of three years. However, the federal cabinet will finalise the nominee, they added.

The HBFC is the only specialised housing finance provider operating since 1952 and corporatised in 2007.

With the government's grand mission to meet the housing need of the people under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP) and construct at least 5 million houses across cities and rural areas, mortgage and housing finance will have to play a pivotal role in making that happen.

The HBFC is in the thick of it and seems well-prepared to cater to the growing demand.
