KP universities ‘misuse’ Rs40 million

Irregularities amounting to 40 million rupees have surfaced in the financial affairs of different universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa corresponding to a two-year period (2014-2016).
Haripur University is at the top of the list as it distributed 2.1 million rupees between the employees in the form of conveyance allowance, in violation of rules.

Moreover, 1.3 million granted for higher education to a university professor could not be recovered by the administration.

The management of Bacha Khan University, Charsada failed to recover 1.8 million rupees for the 407 kanals of land it had given on lease.

Vice-Chancellor of Sawabi University received 1.3 million beyond entitlement as conveyance allowance.

Despite having government residencies, the university employees are receiving residence allowance.

The university also spent 2.5 million rupees on expensive IT equipment.
