The local people on Tuesday killed a cheetah who earlier attacked three persons including a female schoolteacher after straying into a locality in Sarai, a suburban town of Hatyan Bala, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The cheeta attacked and wounded three people. Panicked by the presence of a wild beast in their midst, the locals started looking for the Wildlife Department officials, who, sadly, were not there.

Resultantly, they had to call Rescue 1122 personnel who rushed to the spot and treated those injured by the leopard.

Later, the locals killed the cheetah on their own and in self-defence but the Wildlife Ranger Officer brought the body of the cheetah to the concerned police station and got registered an FIR against the local residents for killing the animal.

It is worth mentioning here that cheetahs and other wild animals roam freely in different areas of Hatyan Bala, including Sarai and surrounding towns and villages, but the wildlife officials have never bothered to come to their rescue.
