Pfizer vaccine only for pilgrims, people on study/work visa: NCOC

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has issued new guidelines for the Pfizer vaccine and announced that the Pfizer vaccine can be vaccinated to 18 and above, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The NCOC said Pfizer vaccine is available in limited stock in Pakistan and it will be administered to outgoing pilgrims for Hajj, people want to travel for study and work visas.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan said that vaccines would only be administered to people with weak immunity.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Dr Faisal said that 51,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines are being distributed.

“Pakistan has received 106,000 Pfizer vaccine doses as part of the COVAX program. Punjab will receive 26,000 doses of mRNA vaccines while Sindh will get 12000m, KP to get 8,000 while 2,000 vaccine doses will be provided to Balochistan,” Dr Faisal Sultan said.

Dr Faisal said that Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will get 1,000 each mRNA vaccines.

Pfizer vaccine doses will be administered in 15 cities across the country as ultra-cold storages are only available in 15 cities.

Dr Faisal Sultan said that Pfizer can be administered to pregnant women, midwives, hepatitis patients while patients who will have to undergo transplant, could administer this vaccine two weeks before. 

Dr Faisal warned that Pfizer should not be administered to coronavirus patients, people with severe allergy and having fevers.
