World No 1 Australia chased down the target comfortably, sealing a seven-wicket win over Pakistan with 15.2 overs to spare. Pakistani women cricket team posted a 191-run target for Australia in the sixth match of the ICC World Cup that was played in Mount Maunganui in New Zealand on Tuesday.

Australia won the toss and opted to field. Captain Meg Lanning’s decision to bowl first proved completely right as by the 3rd over of the innings itself, Pakistan’s both openers were back in pavilion. Both Sidra Ameen (2) and Nahida Khan (9) went out cheaply.

Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar could not last long as well, as Pakistan find themselves toiling at the end of 20 overs.

Captain Bismah Mahroof stood tall for Pakistan as she ended with 78 unbeaten runs taking team’s total to 190 runs for the loss of six wickets. At one stage, Pakistan were struggling at 4/44 but Bismah and Aliya Riaz added 99 runs for the 5th wicket – but were too slow in their approach. Both batswomen completed half centuries. Aliya was dismissed for 53 (109).

Alana King and Amanda-Jade Wellington have a wicket apiece, while quicks Megan Schutt and Ellyse Perry also picked up a scalp early in the Pakistan innings.

Australia made two changes to the side that defeated England on Saturday, with Nicola Carey and Wellington included in the playing XI at the expense of Tahlia McGrath (heel) and Darcie Brown.

For Pakistan, Javeria Khan is out injured, with Nahida Khan taking her spot.
