The Foreign Office summoned a senior diplomat from the Indian High Commission on Friday over the unending series of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistan registered protest with India and noted that six more citizens were injured as a result of Indian forces’ firing, said Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqi.

Sharing the details, she said 10-year-old Seerat, 14-year-old Faiza, 22-year-old Yasir and 44-year-old Abdul Majeed were seriously injured because of the cross-border aggression.

Aisha said Indian forces had committed ceasefire violations on 989 occasions in the current year and targeted the civilian population indiscriminately not only along the LoC but also the Working Boundary.

Indian aggression is a serious threat to the regional peace, said the spokesperson who added that the New Delhi could not divert the world’s attention from the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Asking India to ensure implementation of the UN Security Council resolution, the spokesperson said targeting the civilian population was a violation of the 2003 ceasefire agreement and international conventions.

The Foreign Office also stressed that India must allow the UN observers to visit the LoC.
