Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan likely on Friday, claims Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council

Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) Secretary General Khalid Ejaz Mufti Saturday confirmed that the Eid ul Fitr would be celebrated in Pakistan on Friday, May 14, 2021, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Providing details with the scientific evidence of the appearance of the Shawal moon, the RHRC secretary said the moon would be born on the night between Tuesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 12 at exactly 12 o’clock in Pakistan.

He said that it was compulsory for moon sighting that its age should be at least 19 hours after the birth but on Wednesday evening it would be only 18 hours and 50 minutes in Lahore, and 18 hours and 58 minutes in Muzzafarabad.

The age of the moon would be exact 19 hours in Islamabad and Gilgit, 19 hours and five minutes in Karachi and Peshawar, 19 hours and 17 minutes in Quetta, and 19 hours and 27 minutes on Wednesday, he added.

RHRC secretary also clarified that the difference of time between sunset and the time to sight moon must be 40 minutes but it would only be 35 minutes in Lahore, and just 36 minutes in other cities including Karachi, Peshawar, Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Quetta and Jiwani.

So, he confirmed that the moon could not be seen on Wednesday with naked eyes across the country.
