A couple was tortured and axed to death in the Model Town area of Jahanian City of district Khanewal on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rescue sources claimed that the husband and wife were axed to death and later their bodies were set on fire.

The murders spread fear among locals of Jahanian city which is a small city surrounded by villages and has predominantly agriculture land.

DSP Jahanian Azhar Hussain reached the crime scene with a police contingent. He said that the motive behind the murders has not been ascertained yet and further investigation has been launched.

Police have been investigating the incident from all angles whether the murderer was some relative, a nearby resident or it was some dacoity incident.
