In order to provide convenience to commuters, Punjab’s Excise and Taxation Department has introduced new changes in physical verification for vehicle registration, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the new amendments, the new vehicle will not have to be checked by the excise office for registration. Likewise, the physical verification of locally purchased vehicles will not be required anymore for registration.

However, the physical inspection of imported, auction-bought vehicles has been made mandatory under the new changes.

According to the officials, after registration, it is necessary to go to the office in the existing system and get the vehicle checked. As a result of which, thousands of registration cards get delayed due to a lack of timely inspection, officials added.

A formal notification in this regard will be circulated across the province on coming Monday.
