Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), an international aviation body with 193 countries as its members, on Wednesday included Pakistan on the list of the countries achieving majority of the aviation safety targets, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the organisation’s 64-page safety audit report for the year, 2020, Pakistan has ensured implementation on over 75 per cent of safety standards.

The report further says that 16 per cent increase was recorded in planes-related accidents in the year, 2018-19 and the ratio of such accidents in one million flights stood at 2.9 per cent during the period under review.

It has been further told that there are 45 other countries besides Pakistan which have met over 75 per cent of safety standards. “Aviation rules, training of the staff, licensing, aircraft operation, investigation of the accident and navigation services together determine a safety standard,” the report adds.

The purpose of publishing the report is to improve the aviation safety standards.
