Britain donated 85 million pounds for flood-affected people, says envoy

Says visiting City News Network is like him visiting CNN America: Also expresses sorrow over miseries of flood-hit people: Says British people stand with Pakistanis in hour of difficulty

British High Commissioner Christian Turner arrived Thursday at the head office of City News Network in Lahore where he visited different offices and studios and admired the discipline of staff and the effectiveness of work there, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The British high commissioner went to see the news studios, newsroom, assignment desk, copy desk, and master control room (MCR). “It’s a great feeling to visit the City News Network. Today is a wonderful and memorable day for me,” he remarked.

“The newsroom is very impressive, and everyone works with discipline. Visiting the City News Network is like me visiting CNN America,” he pointed out.

The British envoy commended the City News Network’s excellent coverage of different cities, and he also played cricket with senior journalist Salim Bokhari at the office of the City News Network.

On the occasion, Christian Turner also expressed deep sorrow over the miseries of the flood victims.

“Many people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan, and many people have lost their loved ones which is extremely sad,” he said.

“The British people stand with the Pakistanis in this hour of difficulty. £20 million have been donated by the British people and £65 million by the British government for the rehabilitation of flood victims,” he stated.

Christian Turner also took to the twitter and thanked the team of the City News Work for their hospitality.

Earlier, senior journalist and anchorperson Salim Bokhari, Daily City 42 Group Editor Naveed Chaudhry, Programming Director Khurram Kaleem and Input Head Zain-ul-Abideen welcomed the guest.
