Pakistan Stock Exchange gains 866 points

Bulls made a comeback to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Thursday as the KSE-100 index gained 866 points closing at 31,837.30 (2.80%).

The index after gaining 903 points at midday consolidated the gains.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index, which declined 37 percent last month, gained 2.91 percent on Thursday.

Experts term the 2.91 percent gains of PSX amid the coronavirus pandemic encouraging.

It is pertinent to note that the stocks rose after the International Monetary Fund said it plans to disburse about $1.4 billion in emergency financing next week to help Pakistan which has been witnessing economic downturn due to COVID-19 lockdown.

On Wednesday, PSX remained in negative territory as the KSE-100 Index at one point dropped to 30,775.45 after losing 456.10 points. However, the index closed at 30,971.27 by the time the session ended after starting the day from the level of 31,231.55.

A total of 153,088,900 shares were traded during the day during which experienced a 0.83 percent loss (260.28 points) Wednesday.
