Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has stressed the need for revamping the system to curb corruption so that the people could be provided with relief.

Addressing a press conference at Land Record Centre Muslim Town on Thursday, she said the use of the latest technology is the optimum solution to this problem and the digitalization of the revenue department is a true picture of the commitment made by the PTI government to bring efficiency,  transparency and best service delivery in the public sector.

She said 115 arazi centres are providing revenue-related facilities to the general public in an efficient and transparent manner. She said that 20 state-of-the-art mobile vans are functional to provide revenue-related facilities to people at their doorstep in far-flung areas of the province and 20 more will be functional soon.

The Special Assistant to CM said that 8000 rural record centres will be functional by the end of this year. She stated that the registry system had been computerized in 100 tehsils. The PTI government has started printing and up-gradation of jamabandi after a decade's gap, she stated. She said that e-stamping has been introduced to put an end to the use of bogus stamp papers and an android application e-pay is being introduced for the payment of mutation fee.

She said that computerized land record facilitation centres have been established in Pakistan embassies in the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to facilitate overseas Pakistanis in obtaining online documents of their properties. She said the shortage of revenue staff will be resolved soon, adding a revenue academy will be set up in provincial capital for the capacity building of revenue staff.
