The teachers strike Friday led to the postponement of the first day papers of the matriculation examination in Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The students reached the examination centres to only found no teachers and examiners there.

More than 130000 students would take up the matriculation examination in the province.

Chairman Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Professor Yousaf Baloch said they have hired the services of 1200 teachers for supervising the exam and have set up 400 examination centres in the province.

He reiterated that the examinations would be held at all cost and as they could not allow the educational year of children to go to waste.

However, the teachers present in the sit-in of government employees demanding 25% increase in salaries have refused to carry their duties.

Professor Yousaf claimed many other teachers in the province who are not part of any teachers association are disbursing their duties in place of those teachers who are staging the sit-in.

On the other hand, Balochistan High Court has ordered the Employees Grand Alliance officials to end their strike and also ordered to initiate action against those teachers who refused to carry their duties.
