Rival committees meet today for Eid moon-sighting

Central Ruet Hilal Committee will meet in Islamabad today for the Eidul Fitr moon sighting, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

However, on Monday, an unofficial committee of the Ulema of Jamia Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, Peshawar too called its meeting for the Eidul Fitr moon sighting.

As per the announcement, the meeting will be held at the mosque today after Maghrib prayers.

Met Office says chances of Shawal moon sighting today brighter

On the other hand, the Met Office has said that the chances of Shawal moon sighting across the country today are brighter, and that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday (April 10).

As per the Met Office’s prediction, the holy month of Ramadan this year will be of 29 days.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the birth of the new moon has already taken place on Monday, April 8 at 11:21 pm, and on Tuesday, April 9 at the time of sunset, the age of the moon will be 19 to 20 hours.
The Meteorology Department reported that the duration of the moon's appearance on the horizon next Tuesday will be more than 50 minutes after sunset.
The department has forecast clear skies for most parts of the country on April 9, while cloudy in the northern areas.

Bohra community celebrates Eid today

As elsewhere in the world, members of the Bohra Daudi community living in the country are celebrating Eidul Fitr today.

A large number of people, including children, aged people and women, belonging to the community offered Eid prayers at Tahiri Mosque in Saddar area of Karachi after Fajr prayers.

Similar congregations were also held at other mosques of the community in the city.

Special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of the country.

People in Saudi Arabia, UAE to celebrate Eid tomorrow

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia on Monday announced that the Shawal moon had not been sighted and that Eidul Fitr would be celebrated in the country tomorrow (April 10).

People in the United Arab Emirates too will celebrate Eid tomorrow.
