Muharram, Independence Day holidays of Punjab jails staff cancelled

Punjab Prisons Department has ordered all employees of prisons across the province to be on duty on the occasion of Ashura and Independence Day reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Punjab Prisons Department directed all staff of provincial jails to be on duty on 14th August’s flag hoisting ceremony and to ensure attendance to guard Muharram processions inside jails.

The jail authorities in Punjab have been directed to ensure arrangements for Muharram processions inside the jail and for this, a reserve force of 20 personnel should be formed for security measures.

The IG Jails said that Muharram processions and gatherings should be held under the supervision of superintendents and deputy superintendents.

It is interesting to note that jail authorities also directed the jail staff to request philanthropists for sweets distribution among the inmates due to lack of funds.
