Youm-e-Ashur processions culminate peacefully

Fool-proof security arrangements put in place: Cellular service down in many areas : Five big processions in Jhang sensitized over security threat

The 10th of Muharram - Youm-e-Ashur – was observed with great religious devotion to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the glory of Islam amid tight security with cellular service down in many areas across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The mourning processions taken out in all cities and towns of the country made it to a peaceful culmination thanks to the strict security measures and vigilance of the law enforcement agencies.

The religious scholars and Zakirs will highlight various aspects of the great tragedy of Islam that unfolded in Karbala and the bright teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). 

Strict security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth flow of processions across the country to avoid any untoward incident. The mobile service remains shut in the areas where Muharram processions and Majalis are being held. 

In Lahore, main Shabih e Zuljinah procession of 10th Muharramul Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate of Old Walled City and culminated at Karbala Gaamay Shah, where Shaam e Ghareeban will be held.

Under a comprehensive security plan, foolproof security measures were taken throughout the province. Cellular service was suspended on the procession routes and the Punjab government imposed a ban on pillion riding on Ashura. 

More than 900 CCTV cameras were installed along routes of main processions and other sensitive areas to keep a strict check on any doubtful activity.

In Karachi, on the Youm-e-Ashur the main procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park after Majalis in the morning which conclude after passing through the traditional routes at Imam Bargah-e-Hussainan Iranian at Maghrib.

After reaching Tibet Centre, the mourners offered Zohrain prayers there.

Strict security arrangements were put up along the routes of the procession to avoid any untoward situation.

The main procession will be monitored by CCTV.

Pakistan Rangers Sindh, Police and other law enforcement agencies personnel have been deployed on the routes to provide security, while the roads and streets have been sealed in the procession route.

In Larkana division, more than 200 big and small 10th of Muharram processions were taken out from Kitchi Imambargah, Jafri Imambargah and several other Imambargahs. 

Strict security arrangements have been made with police and Rangers deployed all along the procession routes. CCTV cameras have also been installed. 

In Hyderabad, the main Muharram procession came out from Qadamgah Maula Ali Imambargah under the aegis of Anjuman-i-Haideri. 

The procession participants were carrying images of Tazia, Alam, cradle and other relics. Passing through the traditional routes, the procession culminated at Karbala Dadan Shah. 

More than 20 mourning processions were included in the main procession.

The administration has beefed up security in the city. 

In Tharparkar, a procession was taken out from Malook Shah Imambargah. It reached Shoaib Abu Talib Imambargah near 2 pm and would become the main procession. The mourners would pass through Kashmir Chowk, Mithi and culminate at Malook Shah Imambargah. 

Water Sabeels are placed on the procession routes. Many Sabeels have been placed by the Hindu community of the area as they are too taking part in this somber religious affair. 

In Rawalpindi, the main 10th of Muharram procession will be taken out from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah and it will culminate at Qadeemi Imambargah after taking the appointed routes. 

Mourners flagellate themselves, sing elegies, and relive the great tragedy of Karbala.  

Sabeels of water, milk, and tea were set up along the routes of the processions in remembrance of famine-like situation faced by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

The administration has made elaborate security arrangements as Rangers officials will help the police to maintain peace and order. The Army officials are also on stand-by in case some untoward incident happens.

In Jhang, the main Youm-e-Ashur mourning procession was produced from Dabkran Muhallah. The participants were carrying images of Zuljinnah and Tazia.

In Jhelum, 30 mourning processions of Youm-e-Ashur and 51 Majalis were held.

The administration issued a high security alert for five processions putting them in the A category and declaring their route sensitive. 

Fool-proof security arrangements were put in place as all the entry and exit points were sealed by barbed wire. 

Besides police, Rescue 1122, Civil defence, special branch and other law enforcement personnel performing security duty. Rangers was also deployed. 

Checking of the procession participants was done as a security measure. The monitoring of the processions was done through CCTV cameras installed all along the procession routes. 

In Narowal, the 10th of Muharram procession was taken out from Gulistan Zohra. Taking traditional routes, the procession culminated at the same Imambargah near 9pm.

In Daska, the main Ashur procession came out from Hussainia Imambargah, Dask Kalan. The administration has beefed up security to avoid any unpleasant incidents. 

In Multan, the main mourning procession is the march. Majlis-e-Aza has been held at Astana Lal Shah. 

In Faisalabad, the 10th of Muharram procession which started from Dhobi Ghat is also on the march taking its traditional route. 

In Hafizabad, the mourners are taking out 36 Zuljinnah and Tazia processions. They are on the march. 

In Bannu, the main procession of the 10th of Muharram was taken out from Hussainia Imambargah. The procession will culminate at Milad Park after trudging through its traditional routes. 

Hundreds of police officials are performing security duty along the procession routes.

The medical teams of Rescue 1122 and ambulances were available to provide medical facilities if needed to the mourners. 

The entire route of the procession was covered by putting up tents. Besides this, police checked people at all the entry points.  

In Hub, the main procession was produced from Wadi Hussain Imambargah amd ended at Markazi Imambargah after passing through its usual routes. 

In Quetta, the main Youm-e-Ashur procession came out from Alamdar Road.

Strict security arrangements was made under the supervision of SSP Lasbela. More than 600 FC, police and Levies officials were on duty. 

In Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, the main 10th Muharram procession came out from Baitul Khizan. Strict security arrangements were in place as volunteers of Anjamun-e-Imamia were also assisting police officials in maintaining peace during Youm-e-Ashur. 

Five big Youm-e-Ashur processions were taken out from Ponch district, Rawalakot. Water Sabeels were placed all along the procession routes. 

Kh Asif stresses remembering message of tragedy of Karbala 

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that there was a need to understand the message Ashura Day (Muharram 10th) had for Muslims, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Talking to newsmen at Sialkot, he regretted there was more emphasis on mourning rather than understanding the lessons the tragedy of Karbala had for the Ummah. “And the moment Ashura Day is over, we are back to our material world where we again get embroiled in disputes relating to business and politics. “We again start competing with each other for power,” the minister said, and added, “The Muslims should remember this message for their entire life.”

He went on to add that if the Muslims had followed in the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), they would not have been in the mess they find themselves in these days.
