Pakistan Navy celebrates 1971 sinking of Indian naval ship

Pakistan Navy celebrated Hangor day to commemorate the historic event of sinking of Indian Navy Ship (INS) Khukri and intensely damaging INS Kirpan by Pakistan Navy Ship/M HANGOR during 1971 war, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Navy’s media wing released a special promo on HANGOR Day in a tweet posted on the official twitter account of the Directorate of Public Relations of Pakistani Navy.

The footage showed visual and animation how Pakistan naval ship HANGOR dropped torpedoes, an underwater self-propelled explosive, on INS Khukri and INS Kirpan that proved to be the final blow to the both Indian war ships. Both Indian war ships never came back to waters after a decisive hit by the Pakistan Navy in 1971 war.

It is pertinent to note that 9th December known as HANGOR Day and celebrated with fervor and zeal in order to pay tribute to the Pakistani Naval veterans who struck terror in the hearts of the enemy by sinking the Indian Navy ASW Frigate INS KHUKRI and crippling INS KIRPAN during the 1971 war.

In recognition of their courage, the valiant crew of PNS/M HANGOR was decorated with 04 x Sitara-e-Jurat, 06 x Tamgha-e-Jurat and 14 x Imtiazi sanad.

On 9th December 1971, the UK built Indian Anti-Submarine frigate INS KHUKRI was sunk and INS KIRPAN was badly damaged by the Pakistani Submarine PNS/M HANGOR.
