Punjab police have sought armoured personnel carrier (APC) vehicles from the government to meet the growing challenges of law and order, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The Punjab Home Department has given a green signal for buying 10 APCs and a summary in this regard has been forwarded to the provincial cabinet for approval.

A Cabinet committee will give approval to the summary.

On Tuesday, the Sindh government has decided to purchase Made-in-Pakistan 9mm pistols for the security forces in a bid to control street crime and to make the police patrolling easy.

After approval from the Sindh Cabinet, the government will buy 7,000 9mm pistols manufactured by Wah Industries.

The rules will be relaxed for acquiring locally-manufactured pistols.

The Sindh Home Department has prepared a summary for the purchase of the pistols.
