Modular dynamics testing at a depth of 500 meter in the Margrand X-1 in the suburbs of Kalat has brightened the discovery of one of the largest ever gas reserves in history of Pakistan.

The discovery is being considered as one of the biggest in the past 15 years. A drill stem test was done in the well, during which the well flowed a maximum of 10.7 million cubic feet per day of gas at 64/64 inches choke size at a flowing level of head pressure of 516 pounds per square inch with 132 barrels per day liquid.

PPL owns 100% of the drilling rights of the block and had initiated the drilling at Margand X-1 block on June 30, 2019.

From the block structure, it is expected that it has a reserve of more than one trillion cubic feet.

The gas discovery will help reduce LNG import, saving $900 million for the country.

It is first gas discovery on Kalat Plateau, opening a new sub-basin for further hydrocarbon exploration.

It is good news for the entire Pakistani nation who has been faced with gas crisis, worsening day-by-day.

Of late development, PPL had discovered hydrocarbon reserves in an exploratory well, Bistro-1 in Latif Block, in Khairpur District, Sindh.

Cumulatively, the company has discovered 39.3 MMscfd of gas.
