Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab Saeed Gul Mohmand said the Punjab government does not want to hold local bodies elections, so it is using various delay tactics.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Saeed Gul Mohmand addressed a press conference in Lahore on Monday and announced holding local bodies elections in time (April).
The EC Punjab said delimitation is the authority of the Election Commission and these constituencies have been made under the Local Government Act passed by the Punjab government so anyone who has objections to the delimitations should refer to the relevant forum.
Rejecting any chance to be indulged in any political expediency, he announced holding local bodies elections in April as it is the constitutional authority and responsibility of the institution.
Saeed Mohmand said propaganda is being done against the Election Commission from the Punjab government but he is ready to conduct local government elections as per schedule.
He confirmed that the preliminary constituencies have been completed and anyone who has an objection to it can submit an objection to the concerned authority by January 23.
