Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has come down hard on ex-PM Imran Khan for the latter’s remarks against the state organs, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

Addressing a session of the National Assembly, he declared ‘dangerous’ Imran Khan’s public address in Abbottabad, saying that the words the former prime minister used in his speech were the worst and tantamount to treason.

The prime minister warned that if the former premier was not stopped from going for such speeches, Pakistan would soon become a state like Syria and Lebanon.

He said Imran Khan has been targeting the state organ that ‘pampered him like a child’. The former premier stooped to targeting state institutions after he failed to deliver, the PM said

About an America-backed plot against Imran Khan, Shehbaz Sharif said Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan's letter has not mentioned any conspiracy. It stated they (Americans) used a threatening tone, he said adding that the NSC statement had too no mention of conspiracy.

He added in the past, US, Russian, and Indian governments had threatened Pakistan, but that did not mean that a country was conspiring against Pakistan.

He said the last government did not import oil and gas on time, resulting in a power crisis and it shut down some power plants too.

The next generation has been mortgaged, there can be nothing more unfortunate than this, the prime minister said, adding that he will take notice of the electricity crisis and respond to the house.
